Schedule Friday 5 p.m. - Special Entertainment 6 p.m.until - Competition for all categories Saturday 10 a.m. - Competition continues for all categories 5:30 p.m. - Senior, junior and children's dance contests 7:30 p.m. - Senior band playoffs Around 11:30 p.m. - Presentation of Awards

On Friday night and during the day Saturday, the audience will see and hear a variety of bands and individual contestants who come to the stage when they are ready to play, in no particular order. You never know what's coming next! The Saturday night show is 100 percent hot pickin' bands. The top 15 bluegrass and top 15 old time bands (as judged in Friday night and earlier Saturday competition) return to the stage starting at 7:30 p.m. for the grand championship senior band playoffs.

Wanna Camp? The fairgrounds open to campers on Wednesday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Camping is first come, first served. No reservations. Spaces are $12 per night, with or without hookups. Only one vehicle per camper allowed. All pets must be on a leash.

About the Fairgrounds The Higgins Agricultural Fairgrounds is on U.S. 21 just north of the Sparta city limits. It has clean restrooms with showers. There's spacious covered grandstand seating, or you can bring a lawn chair for a close-up view of the action on stage.   Plenty of vendors will be on hand with food and other items of interest.

Admission The Alleghany County Fiddler's Convention is a weekend of fun with friendly folks in Northwest North Carolina! Admission is $6 for Friday, $7 for Saturday, or $10 for both days. Children under 12 are admitted free.
